A positive Toxoplasma IgM test is often considered a marker of an acute infection.
However, IgM can persist for several months to years after an acute infection, thus making
the distinction between an acute and a chronic infection challenging (9, 10).For AxSYM
Toxo IgG and IgM tests, positive results are defined as values of ≥3 IU/ml and index values
of ≥0.800, equivocal results range from 2 to 3 IU/ml and from index values of 0.600 to
0.799, and negative results are defined as <2 IU/ml and index values of <0.600, respectively.
