A stool test is also known as stool culture, faecal sample test or stool sample test. The test

helps in diagnosing medical conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, gastric or colon

cancer, anal fissures, haemorrhoids, as well as to detect the presence of blood in your stool

sample. 

Stool tests helps to determine whether a bacteria or any other microorganism has infected the

intestines or not. But not all microorganisms in the gut are harmful- some are necessary for

normal digestion. If harmful bacteria or parasites infect your intestines, they cause bloody

diarrhoea and testing the stool may help find the cause of this condition.
